“Bates Motel” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Bates Motel. This movie is about Alex West, the best friend of Norman Bates, who has just passed away. His motel has been given to Alex, and now it is his job to get it up and running again.

This movie is really all over the place.  Going into this i thought the genre was horror, which is was, in a way. But at the same time it was also a comedy. And a romance.  And a sort of inspirational type movie. I really don’t know what to make of this film.

At the end of this movie i thought it was quite funny. It is the ending of a horror film, and nice pretty piano music is playing. It’s just very strange.

When “Normans mom” was there, it was quite creepy. The voice they used was very scary. I enjoyed this part.

Another creepy part i liked was when the girl said “I committed suicide ten years ago today.” I think this was quite scary, but right after she said this, the genre of the movie changed again. It was suddenly this sad heartwarming part.

I really liked the main character, Alex. I don’t really know why he was at a mental hospital at the beginning, he seemed perfectly sane to me. Other than the fact he was friends with Norman of course. Who was obviously not sane.

I also really like the actor who played Alex. Bud Cort. Bud is the person who played Harold in Harold and Maude. I really like this movie.

I was very surprised by the quality of this movie. It was terrible. I thought it would be better than the quality of Psycho,  because it was made almost twenty years later. But i guess since Psycho was a very high end movie, it got the best cameras for the job. This movie has literally horrific quality which made it very hard to watch.

Overall, i rate this movie a 1/5 stars.

“Childs Play” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Childs Play. This movie is about a serial killer who’s soul was put into a doll. This doll was then accidentally given to a little boy for his birthday.

Warning- This review does not include extreme spoilers and I try not to include any,but if you hate being told anything about the movie besides the plot, I recommend to stop reading. If not, enjoy!

I have always heard about Chucky the doll. I knew it was from a movie, but i had never watched it or really knew what it was all about. Recently i wanted to to see who this Chucky guy was, so i watched Childs Play, the first installment of the Chucky franchise.

When Karen (the little boy’s babysitter) was killed, it was very scary, but at the same time very funny. It just seemed strange how she was hit in the face with a hammer, then just happened to fall backwards out of a ten story window.

The scene where the boy was at the mental hospital trying to escape kept me on the edge of my seat. I knew Chucky was getting closer and closer and i was wondering if he was going to get out alive.

I liked how everyone was being convinced of the doll’s life one by one. First of course Andy, (the little boy) then his mother, then the police officer, then the second officer, and so on and so forth.

I did find this movie very scary overall. Dolls of course are very frightening and i think this was very well done.

Overall, i rate this movie a 3.4/5 stars.

“Hush” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Hush. This movie is about a deaf woman who lives in a completely desolate area, other than just one neighbor. A man with a mask breaks into her house.

Warning- This review does not include extreme spoilers and I try not to include any,but if you hate being told anything about the movie besides the plot, I recommend to stop reading. If not, enjoy!

I hate this movie. This is a disgusting awful movie that should be illegal. I will still give my opinions on the parts before i realized what an appalling movie this was.

I really liked the deaf element. It made it a lot scarier, switching between hearing sound and then what she heard. I think this concept could have been used very well to make a good movie, but instead it was used poorly.

I also enjoyed the part where she was sent pictures from her phone. I think this was very creepy and a nice touch.

While i was watching this movie, it reminded me of how much i would hate to live alone. She lived in complete isolation, PLUS she was deaf. It sounds like such a bad life. And obviously it was, looking at what happened to her.

There is way too much violence in this movie. Extreme amounts of blood and gore. This is when i started thinking that it wasn’t all that great.

I actually had to skip ahead some because it went to slow. Nothing was happening for such long periods of time that is was very boring. It was also very dark. I understand this took place during the night and it was meant to be scary, but i could barely see anything.

When John showed up (the neighbor) it started to look up. There was more things happening and i thought that it would actually turn out to be an alright movie. But i was wrong.

And then it happened. The bad guy killed the cat. I actually did not watch it happen, i turned it off immediately. I cannot believe people would put this in a movie. It is the worst thing ever. Harm to an animal. It is not scary, and should not be put in a horror movie. It is a terrible disgusting thing that should be banned from all films.

Overall, i rate this movie a .01/5 stars.

“Pants On Fire” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Pants On Fire. This movie is about a boy that lies about everything, until his lies begin coming true.

Warning- This review does not include extreme spoilers and I try not to include any,but if you hate being told anything about the movie besides the plot, I recommend to stop reading. If not, enjoy!

I watched this movie for the first time a while ago, and i just watched it again today. I clicked on this because i just wanted something to watch, and i also remembered seeing it before.

This movie is good, but not fantastic. I like concept, and i also like the actor who plays Jack (the main character). This actor plays Gabe in Good Luck Charlie. 

This movie really didn’t seem believable. The lies Jack tells are really crazy but somehow everyone believes them anyway. In a way i wish he told more realistic lies, but at the same time the movie would have been less interesting if he did.

I think this is actually not a bad movie at all. Some of the acting isn’t good, but i think that is done on purpose. For it to seem funnier. Although it doesn’t work, at least not for me.

Overall, i rate this movie a 2.7/5 stars.

“Home Alone 2” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Home Alone 2. This movie is the sequel to Home Alone. In this film a boy named Kevin gets lost from his family in New York City.

Warning- This review does not include extreme spoilers and I try not to include any,but if you hate being told anything about the movie besides the plot, I recommend to stop reading. If not, enjoy!

I love the Home Alone series. I can’t choose which  out of the two i like more, they are both so good.

There have been other sequels to this movie that i haven’t watched and don’t plan on watching, since they feature a different actor who plays Kevin. Kevin’s actor is so iconic that any Home Alone movie without him would be terrible.

I like this film for many reasons, one being that i like the idea of Christmas in New York City. Not that i would ever want to spend my Christmas there, but it just seems really pretty with the snow and tall buildings.

I love Kevin. He is so smart and it is just so interesting to watch him in these movies. He always knows exactly what to do in every situation and can survive anything.

This is actually quite a long movie. It reminds me of the Harry Potter film series. They are very long, but worth watching.

One thing i dislike about this movie is the amount of pain. The two bad guys are constantly getting hit with bricks, set on fire, etc. And the sound effects they use makes it seem so real. When Kevin swings the gigantic black thing at them it makes me jump every time.

Overall, i rate this movie a 5/5 stars.

“Minor Details” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Minor Details. This movie is about four girls who discover a sickness going around their school. They team up together to find out who is doing this.

Warning- This review does not include extreme spoilers and I try not to include any,but if you hate being told anything about the movie besides the plot, I recommend to stop reading. If not, enjoy!

This movie wasn’t fantastic, but it kept my interest. It is kind of hard to describe it, but a lot of movies are like this. It was semi predictable, but it was something to watch that wasn’t terrible.

I really like movies that have to do with boarding schools, like this one does. For some reason they intrigue me and make me want to watch the movie even more. For example movies like Spud and Wild Child. It is strange though since i would absolutely hate to actually attend a boarding school.

My favorite characters i think would be Claire and Sean. Other than them i pretty much disliked or hated the rest of the characters.

The acting is honestly pretty bad.

This movie is basically something to watch if you want to pass time/are very bored. Keeps your interest but isn’t that great.

Overall, i rate this movie a 2/5 stars.

“Nightcrawler” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing Nightcrawler. This movie is about a man who discovers a job that he didn’t know existed. It is to record car accidents, murders, and other crime scenes and sell them to tv companies for them to air  on television. People who do this are called Nightcrawlers.

At first i wasn’t sure if i would like to this movie, but i definitely did.

The first thing i noticed was the visuals. The cinematography is very good and i really liked the shots of the city. This movie takes place in Los Angeles.

Something i find really cool is the way the main character (Lou) talks. It almost reminds me of the way Sherlock talks in Sherlock.  Lou is very smart, and does a very good job of convincing people. It’s in a way i can’t really describe. But you will know what i mean if you watch the movie.

There were a few scenes that were quite graphic and bloody, but there wasn’t a lot of it.

My favorite character was Rick. He was homeless and just needed a job. He didn’t know what he was getting into with Lou. He was not at any point a bad guy, he just needed the money.

My least favorite character was Nina. She was a horrible person. I know Lou was as well, but  for some reason i just hated her more. I know it is her job and she makes money off of crimes but she just seemed way to excited after someone dies.

I liked the behind the scenes of the news scene. They were showing the news reporters on a screen and they also showed the people off camera telling them what to say. I think this part was very cool.

I have heard the name Jake Gyllenhaal so many times but  had never seen any of his movies. This was the first one i have seen of him and i do like his acting a lot.

Overall, i rate this movie a 4/5 stars.

“The Santa Clause” Review

Hello! Today i am going to be reviewing The Santa Clause. This movie is about a father and son who discover that Santa Claus has fallen off of their roof, and that the dad has to replace him. Making him the new Santa Claus.

I have always known what this movie was, the basic plot of it, and i have even probably seen it a couple times before. But yesterday was the first time (in a while at least) i sat down and watched the whole thing and finally got to understand all of it.

This is a great movie. Can’t think of anything i would change about it.

I really like Tim Allen and i would like to watch more of his movies in the future.

Sorry for the short review. I will be doing a few of these now and then, because i seriously cannot review certain movies. They are either too good, or they are classics which need no critiquing. I use this reviewing blog kind  of to have a list of all (well, most) of the movies i have watched in my life, not just so i can review them. But that too.

Overall, i rate this movie a 5/5 stars.
